Scotland Replaces Bangladesh in T20 World Cup 2026 After ICC Rejects Venue Change Request
ICC replaces Bangladesh with Scotland in T20 World Cup 2026 after venue dispute and security concerns.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially decided to replace Bangladesh with Scotland in the T20 World Cup 2026 after the Bangladesh Cricket Board refused to send its team to India, citing security concerns.
Despite multiple meetings, the ICC rejected Bangladesh’s request to shift their matches to Sri Lanka. The governing body gave the BCB a 24-hour deadline to confirm participation, failing which Scotland was chosen as the replacement.
This decision mirrors a similar incident from 2009, when Zimbabwe withdrew from the tournament and Scotland took their place. Cricket Scotland has welcomed the opportunity, calling it a historic moment.
