Donald Trump Praises PM Modi, Says India and US Will Finalise a ‘Good Trade Deal’
Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Davos, calling him a friend and expressing confidence that India and the US will strike a strong trade deal.
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday expressed strong admiration for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as a close friend and a remarkable leader. Trump said he is confident that India and the United States will soon arrive at a favourable trade agreement.
“I have great respect for your Prime Minister. He’s a fantastic man and a friend of mine. We are going to have a good deal,” Trump was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.
According to the report, Trump made the remark in response to a question specifically about the progress of the India-US trade agreement. The comment was given exclusively to the publication on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
Trump’s statement comes at a time when trade negotiations between New Delhi and Washington have been closely watched amid shifting global economic and geopolitical dynamics.
