A nationwide survey has been launched to assess foundational literacy and numeracy skills among Class 3 students in India. The initiative, known as the Foundational Learning Study 2026, is being conducted under NCERT.
More than 100,000 students from thousands of schools across the country are expected to participate in the study. The assessment will evaluate students’ abilities in reading, writing, and basic mathematics.
Officials believe the findings will help policymakers improve primary education strategies and strengthen foundational learning across India.
