Bharat Bandh Observed Nationwide as Farmers and Trade Unions Protest
A nationwide Bharat Bandh called by farmers’ unions and trade bodies has disrupted transport, banks, schools, and daily life in several Indian states.
A nationwide Bharat Bandh is being observed today after a call by farmers’ unions and central trade organisations. The protest is primarily against labour reforms, MSP-related demands, and recent international trade agreements. Several states reported partial shutdowns, especially in rural and semi-urban regions.
Public transport services were affected in states like Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, and parts of West Bengal. While essential services such as hospitals and emergency services remain operational, banks, government offices, and educational institutions reported reduced attendance.
Authorities have increased security deployment to ensure law and order. The central government has appealed for peace, stating that discussions with stakeholders are ongoing, while protest leaders insist the bandh reflects growing public dissatisfaction.
